Hair Accessories by Pink Tigers Den on Etsy

Hair Accessories - Pink Tigers Den

I found this great hair accessory shop while looking for top hats last night. These are all handmade by Nicola of Pink Tigers Den. I really like the materials she uses, and the simplicity and elegance of the designs as a whole. I've come across a lot of hair accessory shops on Etsy, and I have to say that her's is one of the more unique shops I've found. Not to mention the gorgeous model in the photographs. I think Nicola hit the nail on the head with the styling and make-up. Her items are really great for a wedding or a special occasion - although, wouldn't be nice if more people wore these types of accessories on a daily basis? I fully encourage it!

P.S. Nicola's work can also be found here.

Fishs Eddy

I think I might have an slight addiction to dinnerware and glassware. Good thing (for my husband) I just window shop online. I never quite get past the checkout screen. I'm sorely tempted with the above collections from Fishs Eddy's, though. (They also carry some adorable Storybook Glassware)

Has Anybody Seen My Tambourine?

halloween playlist

Halloween is almost upon us. While not exactly fit for a dance party, this still does the trick to create the mood for me, and it's not too halloween-y (well except for that excellent last track - I just couldn't help myself).

Don't forget to check out my other Halloween related posts, in case you missed them.

P.S. The Secret by The Pierces is also a good one. I think you can probably find all of these on YouTube if you'd like to listen to any of them.

Nick Morley

How can I not like these? Quirkiness abounds! Plus, we all know how much beards are in this season...

Both are by the fantabulous artist Nick Morley. You can purchase either one of these (or both) at his etsy shop.

Monday Madness

With major lack of sleep, it's a wonder I am able to put my thoughts together with any kind of semblance, much less a coherent post. So I give you incoherent. None of these items necessarily go together. I just like them.

Jen Lobo

I discovered this brilliant artist, Jen Lobo, via My Love For You. I liked what I saw so much, that I had to google her, and found her website. The above artwork was in her portfolio, but the second one, entitled The Journey is available for purchase in her store.

Wisteria Items

I was checking out the new items on Wisteria and found some really great things -- some new, some not. I think they have just the right aesthetic.

[Left to right, starting from the top: Botanical Salad Plates, Starflowered Votive Holders, Etched Crown Glass, Laurel Leaf Mirror, Crocheted Edge Napkins in Light Blue].

I thought these were especially impressive. They're twin sized headboards, both with hand painted Spanish village scenes on them. The top one is the Buenas Noches Headboard and the second is the Buenas Dias Headboard.

When I saw this, I knew I'd have to blog about it. It's a life-sized fox wire sculpture, which was hand twisted by Ruth Jensen of Sparkflight Studio. Could be one of my favorite etsy finds of the year.

The Land of Nod

The Land of Nod

I've always wanted a dollhouse of my own. I like everything about the dollhouse above, it's so cute and cozy feeling. What I like even more are these little sets of critter families you can purchase for it. I'm tempted to order a set of each and line them across my shelf. The Land of Nod has so many great items for children. If you haven't already stumbled across it, I highly recommend it.

The Small Object: Sarah Neuburger

thesmallobject

Two of my favorite objects made by Sarah Neuburger of The Small Object.

The first is a Wedding Cake Topper available on her etsy shop: The Clothespin People. The second item is an embossed reply sticker available on her website.

Antoinette Inspiration

antoinetteinspiration2

I first blogged about these photos on my Livejournal in 2005. I remember falling into love with them instantly at the time. When I stumbled upon them today in a forgotten folder saved on my computer; it was like love at first sight all over again. I love the colors, the details, the birds -- just everything about them.

This photographs were taken by Bernard Tartinville - unfortunately that is the only information I have on them. If anyone knows who the models are please let me know and I'll be sure to add them to the post.

Cottonblue stocks some really great items from Japan on her etsy site. I'd have to say that some of my favorite things are the embroidery books she has available; like the one above. It has 82 pages filled with really amazing patterns. Definately not your granny's embroidery. Unless your granny is awesome.

Skunkboy Creatures

Softies from Skunkboy Creatures

I'll admit that before I discovered Etsy, I didn't really feel any sort of draw toward softies. It wasn't until I was exposed to the creativity and the quality of handmade softies from etsy sellers that I began to feel a small tug to purchase them. I recently discovered the softies above, handmade by Katie of Skunkboy Creatures, and I can tell you that the tug is getting stronger and stronger.

I especially like the personalities Katie infuses into each and every one of her items, she even adds a description about them in their individual listing.

[Left to right starting from the top we have: Frank, Delilah, Orson and last but not least, Camille].

Softies aren't just for kids anymore. You can visit Katie's blog here.

Election Day is Fast Approaching

presidental art

As a tribute to the upcoming election, these prints by Justin Richel just seem to fit perfectly. All three are currently available at his fine art prints etsy shop. I currently have Neapolitan Abe and Rainbow Abe hanging side by side in my home office - and let me tell you, they look quite handsome hanging there. Justin Richel makes excellent quality prints and I would know, as I own quite a few from his shop. The White Column Archival Fine Art Print is a time line of U.S. Presidents' heads stacked on top of each other, and it's currently at the top of my wishlist.

P.S.: Don't forget to vote!

Tea Time

Tea Time

My husband, brother and I all love tea - and we're not too proud to admit it, to all those that visit us, in the form of a pillow.

[Sources clockwise from the top: I Heart Tea Cushion from Hoolala, Mint, Vanilla, and Keemun Black loose tea all from Pearl River, Fortune Astrology Cup and Saucer from Lovely Pretty Things, IngenuiTea Maker from Adagio Teas (we have two of these and use them often)].

Nothing is a Mistake... There is Only Make

Nothing is a Mistake

For over 4 months I've been searching for a specific bird pillow I saw in a sweepstakes ad in House Beautiful -- the source wasn't listed in the magazine or on their site. I finally found it. It is a part of the above collection of pillows made by John Robshaw entitled Birds of India. It was the Flowerpecker one, if you're curious, but now that I've seen the entire collection I've taken quite a fancy to all of them.

The other items on the list are items that I've been coveting. The first is a bookcase by Sami Hayek for Target. The second is a There is Only Make print created by Danna Ray from her Etsy shop; Groundwork. It is based on one her favorite quotes by John Cage.

Alice in Wonderland Inspired

Alice in Wonderland Inspired

Still looking for a costume for Halloween? Maybe these items will inspire you as they did me. A definate alternative to all the "sexy (insert-random-occupation-here)" themed costumes out there. The felted flamingo necklace is a must-have for any aspiring Alice.

Jennifer Murphy Authorized Halloween Reproductions

Jennifer Murphy at Bayberry Cove

The above items are some of the Halloween Reproductions available at Bayberry Cove by the very talented Jennifer Murphy. You may recognize her work from the handmade cake toppers she has available on Etsy. I'm always excited to see the updates on her site -- in fact, she has one planned soon. Be sure to check her website ASAP if you're interested in adopting any of her new one-of-a kind handmade pieces, because they're usually gone in a blink of an eye.

Victoria's Secret Romance... With Clothes

I'm really liking a lot of the romantic colors and silhouettes of some of Victoria's Secret's clothing this season. Not to mention, they have a pretty great coat section this year, too.

Aleks Sennwald Illustration

Aleks Sennwald Art

Love the use of color and imagery in these two illustrations by Aleks Sennwald. She has some new work posted on her site that is equally fantastic. It was hard choosing only two. According to her site she is currently available for commissions.

My Folk Lover

My Folk Lover

Okay. So. I already own a single print by Catherine Campbell, who I must say is an unbelievable artist. The print I own is near and dear to my heart. For that reason, I've been keeping tabs on her updates to her Etsy Shop: My Folk Lover. There are so many wonderful prints available for sale now, that I had trouble picking only four to blog about, and even more trouble trying to keep my hands from reaching for my wallet to buy all of them up.

Sunny Breakfast

sunnysideup

Despite it being well into Fall, it is still quite sunny and hot here in California. Sadly, it's not quite hot cocoa and sweaters for us yet. But, I'm sure that will change in a few weeks, so to play homage to some of the last few days of sunny weather, I've put together some sunny items perfect for a kitchen or a front porch dining room.

[Clockwise from the cute bee honey container: Silver Honey Bee available at Delight. A few of the color options from the very popular set of Latte Bowls available at Anthropologie. There is Nothing Wrong With You

thereisnothingwrong

I think we all need to be told that there is nothing wrong with us every once in awhile - I know I sure do. The There is Nothing Wrong With You Print, done by Matti Rose, was made as, "a reminder on those days when you think there might be." It is available for purchase on her Etsy shop: Suspect Shoppe.

The rest of the items are little bits and bobbins to help us in all our crafty endeavors. Clockwise: Estate Sale Lot 5 Shabby Cottage, by Lobster and Swan, Alphabet Stamps (Large), by Good-Ness,1 Yard Red Tape Measure Ribbon and Vintage Small Red Fence, both by Mykonos.

Kris's Color Stripes 2009 Calendar

KrissColorStripes

I really like a lot of the elements found in this calendar created by Kris from Kris's Color Stripes etsy shop. I like the color stripes - which I can always spend hours looking at in general, I like nature studies, and I really like collections of similar items. Kris does a fantastic job putting all these elements into a single calender. It would look great hanging in your home office, or your kitchen, or anyplace in your home, really - even your guest bathroom.

Kate's Paperie Fall Wrapping Papers

kates paperie

Here are just some of the many wrapping papers available at Kate's Paperie right now. These are so pretty you could frame them and hang them on your wall (especially the Natural History Birds), instead of using them as wrapping paper.

Think about adding a few potted orange trees for a pop of orange and finish off the lighting with some glass votives. Need menu ideas? A pot roast with roasted vegetables and potatoes would work great for this setting.

A Luella Halloween

luellahalloween

I recently stumbled across the above Halloween inspired section of the Fall 2008 RTW line designed by Luella. I especially like the mix of colored tights, and thought this would make great inspiration for those of you who would rather not come up with a costume for Halloween, but still wanted to stay festive and fun.

[All images via style.com]

As a side note, anyone notice the previous winner of Australia's Next Top Model, Alice Burdeu, in two of the four photo's above? Probably the most successful model to come out of the Next Top Model franchise thus far.

Bold "Neutrals"

newneutrals

Each of these items may have some neutral tones or colors to them, but are far from being neutral. The first (Frosty Mornings) and fifth (A Tree With Roots) items are prints by Matthew Woodson, available at Thumbtack Press. Matthew's art really draws me in, so much that I like almost every single item that he has for sale at Thumbtack. The second item is a mirror available at Pottery Barn. I like most things natured inspired and this is no exception. The third item is a solid perfume by Tocca, available at Anthropologie. I love the blood orange scent of Stella in particular. The fourth item is a lamp base, also found at Anthropologie. I love its texture.

Elsa's Papercuts

elsitapapercuts

What's neat about the above prints by Elsa Mora, are that they are of original papercut's made by her. They are so detailed and delicate, they'd look pretty hanging on anyone's wall. You can purchase them at her Etsy Shop; Elsita.

Wool and Water's Paperdolls

woolandwater

I can't tell you how much I'm loving these paper doll sets created by Amy Earles of Wool and Water. She recently updated her etsy shop with some Halloween inspired dolls. With Halloween fast approaching, I'd definitely scoop one or two, (or all of them) up before they're all gone. I know I've had my eye on them for quite some time now.

All You Need In Life

allyouneed

Those of you who know me, know that I love quirky things. I embrace the quirk wholeheartedly. Which is one of the many reasons why I not only like the above illustrations by Lilli Hartmann, I like them more because they are screen-printed on pillowcases available at Third Drawer Down, and I like them the most, because of the sentiment they were made for:

All you need in life

a roof over your head
an apple tree in each direction of the sky
a sheep to keep you warm
a chicken for the eggs, obviously
a monkey to make you laugh
a ghost to make you cry
and finally
two horny bears
