Inspiration: A Little Princess

alittleprincess1alittleprincess2

There is just so much to like about this movie. It's hard to put into words how much I do like it. There are so many scenes from this movie I wanted to share with you. It was so hard to narrow them down, and even worse is that some of my favorite scenes did not translate well into a single photo so I was forced to leave them out. If you haven't seen this movie, you should. If you have you should watch it again.

Caskata Gift Wrap

caskata wraps

I absolutely love everything about Caskata's new gift wrap for the holiday season. The amazing blends of color, pattern and details really sets it apart from other gift wraps out there. Definitely something that recipients will want to save on the day they open any presents wrapped in these beautiful papers.

Church & State Fall 2008 Collection

churchandstate

I recently discovered this amazing designer, Church & State. I just HAD to share these images from their Fall 2008 collection. Look at the amazing details! And there are pockets on that red dress! I love dresses with pockets! I seriously need each and every item from this collection.

Here's a little excerpt from their about me section: "if church & state were a day of the week, it would be sunday, if it were a baked good, it would be a homemade pie, if it were a liquor, it would be bourbon & if church & state were a friend, it would be the best one."

Have a Luxurious Christmas

xmasluxuries

I have quite a weakness for pretty perfume bottles, and this Imperia Eau De Parfum by MOR (in fruits of cornucopia), which is available at Anthropologie, takes the cake. I really like the charming musical print on this Sight Reading Cardigan at Anthropologie. These L.A.M.B. 'Hoshi' Pumps remind me of a gingerbread house and Hansel and Gretel. I have to admit that at one time I was a total Lush addict, it's cooled a bit since then, but I absolutely adore their Ice Hotel Bubble Bar - which was discontinued but is back for a limited time - I'm talking one of my top 5 Lush products of all time. To round things out, I really like the idea of this Hearth-And-Home Incense Burner available at Anthropologie -- the smoke from the incense is supposed to come out of the chimneys.

Sephora Holiday Gift Guide - under $50.

sephoraholidayshopping

These are my holiday shopping picks from Sephora. I am so happy that Sephora has been offering these blockbuster pallets for the past couple years at an amazing price. The first item on my list is the Ultimate Blockbuster Collector's Edition, which is a $320 value, offered for just $48 - can't beat that price, especially considering how much makeup your getting. I love the blood orange scent of the Stella collection from Tocca. I was really excited to see that they are offering a solid fragrance in not only the Stella scent, but in two others as well. The Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner by Ojon is a part of my normal hair care regime, and would make a fabulous gift. Another great gift idea is this Purse Your Lips Limited Edition Lipgloss and Clutch by Tarte, also an excellent value - you get a set of nine lipglosses for $39 and they come in a cute metallic clutch. The last item on my list is a product I've been dying to try, Protein Rx Reparative Treatment Mask by Frederic Fekkai. I know I would be thrilled to get any of these items, so I hope this makes your holiday shopping a little easier.

Small note: all of these items are under $50.

Kate's Paperie Back Open

katespaperie

For those of you who may not have noticed, Kate's Paperie's website was down for maintenance for about a week. I just noticed that it was back up today, so I thought I'd do a small post about some of the great items currently on their website. All items are perfect for fall.

Mod Cloth Picks

modclothpicks

Two of my favorite items available at Mod Cloth right now. Starting on the left, we have: the Surprise Party Dress and the Maude Belted Coat.

In other news, I'm still trying to recover from a nasty cold, and I've left the very stressful corporate world, for the quieter halls of our public library. Posting may be a little slow, but I'll try to keep on top of it as much as I can in this busy holiday season.

Sorry about the lack of posts for the past few days. I'm coming down with a serious head cold, and haven't been able to think straight, much less spend too much time behind the computer. But, here are some pretty items that have caught my eye recently.

Etsy Find: Aline Yamada - The Yumi Yumi Shop

yumiyumi2

I just have to say that these are two fantastic prints by Aline Yamada. If you look in her etsy shop: The Yumi Yumi Shop, you'll see that she does some amazing things with colors and each one of her pieces are infused with such intricate detail its hard not to fall in love with her artwork on the spot. Both prints are
limited edition and will probably not be around for too much longer, so be sure to get them while you can!

Etsy Find: Julia Pott's Brand New Zine

juliapott

I was checking in on Julia Pott's etsy shop and found she had a brand new item in her shop as of November 7th: a 24 Page Full Color Zine entitled This is My Boyfriend. It's a collection of illustrations she has created over the past six months. The above images are a few pages from the zine. Be sure to check out the really awesome temporary tattoos she has available in her shop as well!

Etsy Find: Joshua Gorchov - The Big Black Cloud

thebigblackcloud

How can I not like these prints by Joshua Gorchov? It has a cabin in the woods, a bunny, birds and lots and lots of color. So many of my likes, absolutely none of my dislikes. These prints are available at his etsy shop: The Big Black Cloud.

Etsy Find: Art by Caitlin Shearer

pepperminte

I love these prints by Caitlin Shearer which are available for purchase at her etsy shop. They're so soft and pretty. The Expression of Displeasure print looks just like how I think Jo March might've looked at her younger sister Amy of Little Women fame, during one of their fights.

Baby I Got Your Number

I really like these "classic" phones from Urban Outfitters. Too bad we got rid of our land-line nearly four years ago. If I ever get one again, I'll definitely consider something like these.

Inspiration: Sense & Sensibility

senseandsensibility

Oh, what I wouldn't give to live here, in this film. If I could only wish myself into any film at will. Like books, my favorite films are like my oldest and dearest friends. I love everything about this rendition of Sense & Sensibility. The imagery is amazing. If you've never watched it, I urge you to. This is up there with the A&E version of Pride & Prejudice (the one with Colin Firth). I wish I could show you more screencaps, but I didn't want to take up too much space.

This particular version was directed by John Alexander - not to be confused with Ang Lee's version (which was wonderful too), or should I say Emma Thompson's version, as she developed the screenplay.

Anyway, this is perfect for a fall day.

PopMat Paper Mats

popupmats

I've being seeing these cute place-mats all over the place recently. I think they're just the thing to enliven a table this holiday season. You can find the entire assortment at Publique Shop. You can order them in Kraft, White, Black, Brown or Red.

Etsy Find: Mama's Little Babies

mamas little babies

I really like the colors and feel of the above jewelry made by Mama's Little Babies on etsy. All were inspired by vintage images collected by her. There are so many pretty things in her shop, it was hard choosing just four to show you. As a note, if you'd rather have a brooch instead of a pendant the shop info says that this can be done! Be sure to visit Mama's Little Babies for more info.

Thanksgiving Squirrels

martha stewart squirrels

One of my favorite things about Martha Stewart's website is that she makes downloadable clip art, and craft tutorials available for anyone to use. And it's always great quality, with good instructions on assembling. Take the above Paper Squirrel Favors, for instance. They first appeared in the November 2006 issue, and again in this years special Martha Stewart Holiday: Season's Eatings issue (which I just picked up at my local supermarket today). I think it's pretty awesome that these resources are available with no extra charge - you don't even need to be a subscriber to any of her magazines. There are a lot more where these squirrels came from, so get clicking!

If you are a registered voter for the United States, please vote today! I know where I live in California the polls do not close until 8:00pm, so please, please, please take the time - or make the time - to vote today!

P.S.: I don't know what is up with Google Ads, but all the blogging sites I've visited (including my own) have a Vote Yes on Prop 8 ad running. Please know that I have no control over what comes up there, and that my site does not include or support that message. Thank you!

Diana Sudyka Artwork

diana sudyka artwork

I really like these pieces created by Diana Sudyka. I don't know what it is about artwork involving animals, but I'm always drawn to it and have a dozen or so prints and objects revolving around animals scattered throughout my home. That being said, I really like Diana's use of color and the detail in each of these is amazing.

[From top to bottom: Prairie Original Limited Edition Screenprint and Mule Deer Limited Edition Archival Giclee Print are both available for purchase in Diana's etsy shop. The third piece, Sara's Fox, is sold out, but can be seen on Diana's website along with some of her other work.]

DIY Dining at Anthropologie

anthropologie

I just spent 15 minutes or so playing with the DIY Dining feature on Anthropologie. It's kind of addicting, though you only have a set amount of options - if they put their entire dining and glassware line on there, it would be one of my all-time favorite time wasters.

Screen captures all taken at Anthropologie.

Oh, Oh Sorcerer Print by Aleks Sennwald

Aleks Sennwald Print

I just found out that this print by one of my favorite artists, Aleks Sennwald, is available for purchase at Tiny Showcase!! And it's affordable to boot!

Can you tell I'm excited? Can you, can you? Huh, huh?
